Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 2026 · Draft for platform functionality
Transparency Notice: Hackerzone prioritizes minimal data collection. We do not sell user data or employ third-party advertising tracking networks. This document describes the essential and functional cookies required to deliver our platform.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small data files stored on your computer or mobile device when you browse websites. They help the platform remember your session, keep you securely authenticated, and store minimal interface preferences.
2. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary to provide the services available through Hackerzone and cannot be disabled without breaking platform functionality:
- Authentication Sessions: We utilize encrypted JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) via Supabase Auth (
sb-*-auth-token) to verify your identity when participating in hackathons, submitting projects, or scoring submissions as a judge. - Security & CSRF: Cryptographic tokens to protect against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) on forms and API mutations.
- Load Balancing & Proxy: Routing headers maintained by our edge proxy to direct requests efficiently.
3. Functional & Preference Cookies
These cookies and local storage keys enable enhanced platform usability:
- Theme Preference: Storing your preferred light or dark mode setting.
- Draft Form Persistence: Local storage snapshots of project submissions or hackathon wizard steps to prevent accidental data loss.
4. Third-Party Analytics & Advertising
Hackerzone does not load third-party marketing trackers, cross-site profiling pixels (such as Meta Pixel or TikTok Pixel), or ad-retargeting beacons. If performance telemetry is utilized, it operates with anonymized IP addresses purely to diagnose application errors.
5. How You Can Control Cookies
You can set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies. If you choose to reject cookies, you may still explore public hackathon pages, but you will not be able to log in, register for hackathons, or submit projects.
6. Contact & Questions
If you have any questions regarding our use of cookies or local storage, please reach out to our privacy team at privacy@hackerzone.in or review our Privacy Policy.
